The China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) was signed on 17 June 2015 in Canberra by Australia's Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Robb, and the Chinese Commerce Minister, Mr Gao Hucheng. The ceremony was witnessed by Australia's Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Both countries must now complete their domestic treaty making processes to bring the agreement into force. In Australia this includes consideration by the Parliament.

With recent news that the Australian Opposition has reached agreement with the Turnbull Government, we will now see passage of the agreement through the Parliament.
