The Queensland Multicultural Awards 2016 will recognise the valuable contributions of Queenslanders who support and promote a united, harmonious and inclusive Queensland community.

This year there are 7 categories and all nominees will be considered for the Minister’s Multicultural Award.

Nomination categories

  1. Services and Communities Award - individual
    This category recognises an individual who has demonstrated excellence in the delivery of activities that help build a strong and unified Queensland community.
  2. Services and Communities Award – organisation
    This category recognises community organisations and associations that have demonstrated excellence in the delivery of an innovative initiative that helps build a strong and unified Queensland community.
  3. Business Excellence Award
    This category recognises business innovation that demonstrates the benefits of multiculturalism and actively contributes to building a prosperous, fair and harmonious Queensland, and supports the economic participation of Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  4. Employment, Education and Training Innovation Award – non government organisation / private enterprise.
    This category recognises innovative and collaborative employment, education, training or language independence initiatives which maximise opportunities for Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to participate in the cultural, economic, political and social life of Queensland.
  5. Employment, Education and Training Innovation Award – public sector
    This category recognises innovative and collaborative employment, education, training or language independence initiatives which maximise opportunities for Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to participate in the cultural, economic, political and social life of Queensland.
  6. Outstanding Volunteer Award
    This category recognises an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to supporting and promoting multiculturalism and community harmony through volunteering.
  7. Communications and Media Achievement Award
    This category recognises an individual or a media/communications initiative that promotes community harmony and increased cross-cultural understanding.
